egg topiary
I was mildly inspired by the $5 egg topiary at dollar tree but found it a little….eggless. So I brought it home and hacked it. You could also 100% just start with a normal foam cone. Also, you can call me a weirdo but the cematary flower holders from the dollar tree or michaels make a great topiary base.
These are the dollar tree speckled eggs I used. It took more packs since I was being color picky. I also reused the eggs that were originally on it. Here are some options if you cant find them: https://amzn.to/3JFR4LU & https://amzn.to/3TDvhJm
I picked off all the eggs and greenery (and partially broke the cone in half if we’re being honest).
I hot glued eggs around the cone, squishing them as close together as I could and hot gluing the eggs to each other as well as the cone. I went with giant blob of glue onthe cone and small line of glue on the side of the egg that would go up against the other egg.
I tried to space the colors apart somewhat evenly, and went for a staggering in between each other look. The original eggs are a little smaller than the other ones but you can space them how you like them since that space (and any hot glue mistakes) can be covered by greenery.
Tuck the greenery back in wherever you like it. When I had a piece where I wanted it I would pull it out, shoot in a glob of glue into the space and then put it back in. If you work quickly you have a few seconds of leaf moving time to get it just how you like it. I also hot glued/stuck some greenery into the bottom of the cone (a couple of them had wire stems).
I had a piece of ribbon I wanted to use so I wrapped it just like a package, putting the ribbon across the top, crossing the ribbon in an X on the bottom and pulling it back up perpendicular. I tied all the ribbon together into a knot and pulled the ribbon tight so I could take my time on the bow. It also holds the topiary together. From here you could easily put a stick into the base, mine is just sitting on top of a julep cup looking sassy. I styled it slightly differently last year (the first pic) and this year (the second) so I put both so you could see how it looked.
