faux floral or boxwood bunny
Any faux boxwood and/or random green leaf will do, I had some boxwood I cut off a mat from the Target dollar section. The key here is to cut the stems short and have a lot of them.
There are two techniques, use whichever works for you. Carving out small chunks of styrofoam and putting the glue in the hole and then pushing in the leaves one by one yields a slightly thinner bunny and is my preferred look. It is also time consuming and annoying. I used tacky glue for this one, takes a little longer to dry but holds well to both the styrofoam and the faux florals.
You can definitely just put glue onto the smooth styrofoam and then push in the leaves one by one, bunny is just gonna look like he was eating king sized reese’s carrots instead of the vegetable ones.
If pieces fall off you can use a pair of scissors to push the pieces further into the styrofoam.
I tended to do chunks at a time and then let them dry so they wouldn’t fall off when I was rotating the bunny. I did this guy about 1/8th at a time.
Once the bunny is fully covered and dry you can snip the boxwood leaves to make sure there is plenty of room around his ears, face, etc. and then add a bow.
You can also use small sized flowers for bunnies, like these from the Dollar Tree.
For flowers I pull the individual petal sections (These are a shape of 4 petals with a hole in the middle) and then use a toothpick or scissor tips to push them slightly into the glued styrofoam.
This guy is one of my favorites, I added a bead eye and I love how it subtly shows.
Pinkie’s styrofoam ears fell off so he got leaf ears glued on to switch it up a bit.
